This document helps in identifying the Features and differences across the various versions of Quality Center. There are many useful features available with the latest version (Quality Center 10)
|New Features||QualityCenter9.0||Quality Center9.2||Quality Center10.0|
|Template Projects||Not available||Not available||Quality Center now considers test parameters in manual tests as properties of a test, instead of as part of a specific test design step.
This makes it easier to manage test parameters in manual tests, and enables the reuse of test parameters in multiple design steps.
Test parameters are now managed in a new Test Parameters tab
Criticality, Failure Probability
and Risk Constraints are the three available tabs
|Newly Added Tabs
|Release Management||Not available||You can use the new Releases module to help you more efficiently manage the often-challenging process of issuing application releases. In the Releases module, you organize your upcoming releases by defining a hierarchical tree of release folders. A release represents a group of changes in one or more applications that will be available for distribution at the same time. Each release can contain a number of cycles. A cycle represents a development and QA cycle based on the project timeline.||Available.
|Requirements Traceability||Not available||The ability to create associations between entities has been extended with the addition of requirements traceability. Requirements traceability defines a relationship between two or more requirements. Tracing requirements to other requirements helps ensure that no requirements are inadvertently overlooked during the testing process. When analyzing the impact of a change proposed in a specific requirement, the traceability links indicate other requirements that might be affected by the change.||Available|
|Risk-Based Quality Management||Not available||When planning how to test your requirements, you generally do not have unlimited resources available, and are not able to fully test every requirement. You must make compromises and only partially test requirements that have low criticality to the business, or those that have only a minor risk associated with their implementation. The new risk-based quality management feature enables you to calculate at which level to test each requirement, based on the nature of the requirement and the resources you have available. You can then plan your testing strategy based on these recommendations.||Available|
|Excel Reports||Not available||In addition to the existing Reports, Graphs, and Live Analysis Graphs features, you can now analyze Quality Center data using the new Excel Reports feature.||Available|
|Shared customization||Not available||Not available||Quality Center Premier Edition: The new cross project customization feature enables you to standardize policies and procedures across initiatives in your organization.|
|Version Control||Not available, needs support of third party software||Not available, needs support of third party software||Quality Center now has fully integrated version control. You no longer need to purchase and maintain a third party version control system. Instead, the Quality Center site administrator can enable version control on a per project basis.|
|Sharing Libraries||Not available||Not available||Quality Center Premier Edition: You can now reuse entities in your project, and share entities across multiple projects by creating libraries.|
|Baselining||Not available||Not available||Quality Center now includes baselining functionality which enables you to create a snapshot of entities in your projects at critical stages of development.|
|Quality Center Dashboard Module||Not available needs independent installation of QCD||Not available, needs independent installation of QCD||Quality Center now includes a built-in Dashboard module. This replaces the legacy standalone Dashboard Application.|
|Test Resources Module||Not available||Not available||Quality Center now enables you to manage resources used by your tests. For example, suppose you work with an external testing tool that stores its tests in Quality Center. Each test uses a shared configuration file that is common to a number of tests. You therefore want a single point of maintenance for the configuration file, rather than saving separate copies of the file for each test.|
|Dependencies||Not available||Not available||You can view dependencies that exist between entities such as tests,components, and test resources. When analyzing the impact of a change proposed in a specific entity, the dependency links indicate the other entities that the change might affect. You can view dependencies in the Dependencies tab..|
|Password Reset||Not available||Not available||Previously, if users forgot their Quality Center login passwords, the site administrator assigned them a new password. Now, users can reset their passwords themselves, and create new passwords. You do this by clicking the Forgot Password link in the Quality Center Login window|
|Multiple Record Update||Not available||Not available||You can now update a field value for more than one record at a time. This option is available in the following Quality Center modules: Requirements, Test Plan (grid only), and Defects.|
|Test Parameters||Not available||Not available||Quality Center now considers
test parameters in manual tests as properties of a test, instead of as part of a
specific test design step. This makes it easier to manage test parameters in
manual tests, and enables the reuse of test
parameters in multiple design steps. Test parameters are now managed in a new Test Parameters tab.
